My best friend died suddenly in December of 2023. I haven't really felt like life was worth it since then.

I was doing a day-long software training course – the same one I've done many times. Then I caught myself just talking without thinking. That was my 'time to move on' moment.

I moved my mom in after she got kicked out and was dealing with stage 3 cancer. Our relationship? Complicated doesn’t even cover it. I was her full-time caregiver with zero backup, and yeah, it got messy. I finally snapped on Christmas and asked for help. A little chaos, a lot of love, and hopefully, better days ahead.

The company underbid a job, so they let folks go and cut pay for those left behind. More workload, less cash—that was my cue to jump ship.
