Still kinda a kid here, but back when neighborhoods were candy wonderlands! Porches packed with bowls, costumes that actually made you say "wow," and everyone running around like it was Halloween Olympics. Now? Just trunk or treating and meh costumes. Also, Halloween used to freeze your face off - why’s it feeling like summer now?
Trick-or-treating with my dad - those are some memories I hold close. Life threw a curveball, but that night? Just us and candy.
Mom was the original Halloween hero. Every year, no stores involved - just attic treasures turned into pirates, gypsies, hobos, and hippie overloads. Candy was great. Neighborhood was safe. Bonus: warm cider donuts from that one neighbor. Classic!
Just good ol’ trick-or-treating, door to door around the neighborhood. None of that mall or parking lot stuff. Fresh air, night vibes, and lots of candy. Lucky kids getting to do the real deal.
Once I got too old to trick-or-treat officially, I dressed as a ghost - black underneath, ragged sheet, scary hair and all. Then I’d hide between houses and sneak around. Hearing kids freak out shouting, "Mom! A ghost!" was priceless. Best Halloween trick ever.
Trick-or-treating with my cousins and grandma in the '70s. Granny wasn’t into knocking on strangers’ doors and finally just yelled, “GEORGE, PUT YER PANTS ON!” Hilarious. We went home right after, never found out if George answered pants-less!
