Lots of people think of Christmas as family time. And dogs and cats? Totally family, right? A whopping 9 out of 10 Americans say they celebrate the holidays with their pets. But be honest - cats usually cause more trouble than the humans!

In a poll, 43% of folks said their cats just *had* to mess with the presents. Ripping wrapping paper, unwrapping gifts, or simply shredding everything into confetti - is your tree and pile of presents in danger? Probably.

Those climbing skills? Cats are basically tree ninjas. About 30% of surveyed owners said their cats climb the Christmas tree for sport. And 14% have watched their tree fall victim to this feline parkour. Decorations? Almost half the cats get tangled in them at least once. Rockin’ around the Christmas tree? More like crashing!

Pet parents want their cats to feel festive too. Nearly half get their furry little troublemakers presents - usually toys, puzzles, treats, or funny holiday costumes. And 27% include their cats in family holiday cards because, well, if they’re part of the chaos, they’re part of the family.

But sometimes the festive fun gets serious. Take "Dancing With the Stars" judge Derek Hough’s cat - who ate something holiday-related and caused an $8,000 vet bill. Yikes!

So heads up on holiday hazards for kitties:

1. Tinsel and shiny decorations (super tempting but super dangerous),
2. Holly, mistletoe, and poinsettia berries (pretty but poison! ),
3. And some festive snacks like onions, garlic, raisins, and chocolate (definitely no-no’s).
