Hey, wanna peek into the chaotic world of running a family restaurant? Mef Ajulo’s “Third Servings” comics toss you right into the madness where loving your fam and losing your patience go hand in hand. It’s mostly about three siblings trying to keep their dad’s restaurant afloat, juggling cranky customers, tight budgets, and a whole lot of awkward everyday drama. Spoiler alert: it’s painfully relatable and hilariously ordinary!
These siblings bicker like champs, slack off sometimes, but always step up when it counts. The jokes come from their messy lives and the weird little moments we all know too well - without heavy drama, just a whole lot of life and eye-rolls. Plus, the art style is super clean and expressive, making the chaos extra fun to watch.
Curious? Dive in, laugh a little (or a lot), and maybe spot yourself or your fam in the mix. And if you get hooked, Mef’s got another series called “Matt” that’s just as good, waiting on his Instagram page!

We caught up with Mef to find out where his comic love affair started. Turns out, he’s been into comics since forever - Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, The Boondocks, and Big Nate ruled his childhood. Big Nate was the ultimate BFF.
And he didn’t just want to read comics - around age 10, he decided to become the boss of his own world of doodles and kept at it ever since.
“Third Servings” didn’t pop up overnight. Mef noodled around with a strip called Matt for five years about three siblings before adding that extra spice to make things pop.
His style? Totally inspired by workplace sitcom legends like Parks and Rec, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Kim's Convenience, and Superstore. Because who doesn’t love some silly office antics?
Oh, and Mef’s got some real-life hustle too. He once worked food service (and hated it), which means he knows EXACTLY what’s up behind the scenes. Apparently, unhappy vibes make for better comedy anyway.
When making comics, he’s basically staring at a blank doc, trying to dream up funny stuff the characters could do or say before hammering out a script and tweaking the jokes.
The biggest struggle? Punchlines! Mef tries out tons before picking the perfect zinger - because good jokes don’t just fall from the sky.
As for what’s next, he’s playing it by ear - more fun, more chaos, and making “Third Servings” even better. No plans, just vibes.
