50 Totally Wild Tales of Visiting Friends' Houses Gone Oh-So-Wrong

SystematicScribble , Alexander F Ungerer Report

When I was dating my now-husband, I stepped into his house and almost dashed out the door! Imagine piles of stinky clothes, moldy dishes, six cats peeing everywhere, and chaos galore. It felt impossible to find a clean cup. My guy was the only one who cared, cleaning the kitchen weekly in gloves and a mask, only to watch it get trashed again. Glad I stuck around! Turns out, the mess was all mom’s doing - the dude’s actually neat as a pin now.

Visiting a friend’s place turned into an endurance test with her wild kids jumping, slapping, hair-pulling, and raiding my purse the whole time. And my friend? She did nada, even gave me a weird look when I told the youngest 'No hitting!' Nope, never going back there!

At a friend’s, I finished my cereal and casually went to drink the milk from the bowl - only to be told, 'Nope, you can’t do that.' Later, at McDonald's with both moms, my friend’s mom was pulling the strings: 'Take a bite of fries, now drink soda, more soda, now burger bite.' My mom and I just looked at each other like, 'Yep, weirdos alert.'

So I get invited to work on a project at my friend’s place. Arrive a bit high and ring the doorbell. His dad answers... totally naked. Like, no shirt, no pants, zero clothing naked. I honestly checked twice thinking I was hallucinating! Turns out, they were nudists and forgot to mention it. Mom making sandwiches naked, brother chilling naked, and their dog - well, the dog was the best dressed with a bow tie. Texted my friend from the bathroom 'Is everyone naked?' He replied, 'Yep.' Awkward! Nice family though, just... no thanks on round two.

Friend’s Portuguese immigrant mom was super strict - no going upstairs, always take off footwear on the porch, and more rules than I can count. The kicker? I innocently grabbed one grape from this 'sacred' display bowl, and boom - I was banned forever. Just for one grape! Talk about dramatic rules.

This friend collected ALL the freebies, even broken stuff, claiming she'd renovate it someday. The guest room patio was blocked by junk - you’d have to vault over piles to go outside. Front door had a lock needing a key to get out (left in the lock), so I imagined the fire hazards. Kitchen and bathroom were neat but, man, the stuff piles were wild.

Work friend Nancy invited me over for dinner with her husband Brian. When Brian came home, he was rude, yelled about the car outside, then made a scene about cold food - throwing plates and food everywhere. Then he chucked a chocolate at Nancy's head and invited me to watch him shoot targets in the backyard. Nancy laughed it off but had tears in her eyes. I left quietly and called the police. Friendship ended after that. Still hope she’s safe.
