“About as Dramatic as a Wikipedia Page”
One critic basically said this movie has "the dramatic depth of a Wikipedia article." Oof. They felt it barely showed MJ’s feelings and struggles, making the story kinda flat. But hey, Jaafar Jackson (Michael’s nephew) nailed the performance, so there's that! They gave it a 4/10.
One fan said, “Looks like my Saturday afternoon just cleared up.” Classic burn.

“Painfully Bad”
The New York Times called it a “cheap and embarrassing bore.” They weren't fans of the squeaky-clean hero version of MJ, saying it was just a paint-by-numbers story. 1/4 stars and a big yikes for direction and writing.
Someone joked, “Hollywood will still give it an Oscar for Best P*do Bio-pic.” Harsh!

“An Unmitigated Disaster”
The Daily Beast straight-up called it a fluff piece that wiped away all the ugly bits from MJ’s life. They said ignoring the big controversies made it a misleading story.
Verdict? “Whitewashed Michael Jackson movie is an unmitigated disaster.” Don’t say we didn’t warn you.

“Surprisingly Tedious and Boring”
IndieWire said the story felt paper-thin, mostly because it tried squeezing 26 years of Michael’s life into 2 hours. While Jaafar nailed the look and moves, the movie just dragged and ended on an unsatisfying note.
Grade? C-. Yawn.
“No Artistic Vision, Just Cash Grab”
Empire called the movie a “cosplaying tribute” with zero real artistic heart. It skipped all the messy legal stuff just to sell MJ’s pop star glitz.
They gave it 2 out of 5 stars and called it a cynical money-maker. Ouch.

“A Bit of a Downer”
Rolling Stone said the film leans hard on nostalgia but sidesteps the complicated parts of MJ’s story. It felt more like a highlight reel than a real biopic.
At the end, it was pretty boring with a meh ending. C- from them.

“Surprisingly Dull”
The Economist called it a movie that celebrates MJ’s music but ends in a sad note. The musical numbers were cool, but the rest? Kinda one-note and boring.
They said it was a dull watch despite some highs.
“Misses All the Important Stuff”
TheWrap said this is your typical music biopic formula - skip the tough stuff and keep it simple. But MJ’s life needs so much more context.
They weren’t impressed by the screenplay or the directing. Yikes.

“The Exact Opposite of MJ”
IGN slammed the movie's MJ as a boring, empty character that doesn’t feel like the real thing. Instead of complex, it’s cartoonish and way too pure.
One fan said, “Should’ve never been greenlit.” Harsh but relatable.
“Like an After-School Special”
Paul Shirey on his blog said this flick tries to sell a deep story but feels more like cheesy after-school TV. Jaafar did great though!
Someone on social said, “Don’t know why you expected something different.” Burn.
