Dr. Amy Bandy, a super smart plastic surgeon, breaks it down: follicular unit transplantation plucks tiny hair groups and plants them with surgical ninja accuracy.
Dr. Bandy says, "We work with tiny groups of 1 to 4 hairs to recreate the exact pattern of natural hair. Plus, fancy microscopes and tools make sure most of those hairs actually survive the trip."
Skilled facial plastic surgeon Dr. Cory Bonvenzi says the old 'hair plugs' were about as subtle as a neon sign. They used to shove in chunks of multiple follicles, leading to funny-looking spots and nasty scars.
