These Fairy Tale Comics Took Classic Characters and Tossed Them Into Modern Awkwardness
Fairy tales usually mean castles, magic, and maybe a talking animal or two. But what if fairy tale characters had to deal with boring everyday problems? That’s exactly what Francis Bonnet did with his Suburban Fairy Tales. Instead of enchanted forests, you get the Three Little Pigs and the Big Bad Wolf trying to survive... well, regular life. And spoiler: it’s wonky, hilarious, and totally relatable.
It’s like childhood nostalgia bumped into reality TV, and they became best friends. Classic characters meet weird modern vibes - and the results are pretty darn funny.
Scroll down and dive into some of the funniest comics from the series, where fairy tale chaos lives in the real world (and trust me, it’s a blast).

We chatted with Francis Bonnet, the brain behind these comics, to get the scoop on how he dreamed up these mashups and what makes them so funny. Here’s what he shared.
Francis said he originally planned to have a big mix of fairy tale characters, like Pinocchio and Rapunzel, all hanging out equally without a main star. Sounds like a wild cast, right?
And guess what? The famous Three Little Pigs didn’t all appear at once. He started with just the third pig because, well, number 3 just sounded funnier. Because who doesn’t think pig number 3 is inherently funnier than pig number 1 or 2?
Slowly, the other pigs showed up and got their own quirky personalities.
Building up to a perfect punchline? That takes serious brainpower! Francis spends a lot of time tweaking and rewriting before posting comics, sometimes working months ahead. Fresh eyes make for fresh laughs, he says.
Want to know what makes these comics feel so spot-on? They’re based on real life! Francis admits a lot of his characters are exaggerated versions of himself or people he knows. Plus, a bunch of stories came from awkward dating adventures he’s had.
His goal? Just to spread some good laughs - because hey, the world’s got enough serious stuff already.
