First up: a quick intro from Anselmo himself. "I'm Anselmo A. Peretto, a daytime software developer and nighttime cartoon guy. I'm Italian-Brazilian, living in a city famous for chickens - don't worry, we don't actually eat them all day long!"

Turns out, art stuck with him from school days. "I was always last picked for P.E. but first for art class. Probably why I’m still not a soccer fan today…"

When asked if jokes or drawings come first, he says, "Used to spend way more time drawing than joking, but now I flip it - more brainpower on humor and a bit of time goofing around with the art. Sometimes I just start with a pig and see where it goes!"

His secret sauce? Using real-life stuff. "Most jokes come from my life, whether normal or weird. Often, I'm more of a filter than a creator!"

Warning: he loves nonsense a bit too much! "Sometimes I have to stop myself from turning everything into complete chaos that nobody gets. Still, a little madness keeps things interesting."

Surprise hits happen all the time. "Sometimes a simple sketch gets way more laughs than I expect. Drawing for myself (like Bill Watterson did) means the laughs are the best kind."

Audience? "I’m still figuring them out, but hey, a quirky sense of humor goes a long way!"

Switching from strips to single-panel was game-changing: "It gave me extra time to sharpen each joke. It started from a tiny spark, maybe from Gary Larson’s work in an old Reader’s Digest."

But it’s one shot per cartoon now: "One panel, one joke - either you nail it or... well, you bore them. No pressure!"
