The site started in 2005 when a dude named Jack Herrick thought, "Hey, what if we could make a Wikipedia but for how-to stuff?" And boom, WikiHow was born.
At first, only a couple thousand people checked it out, and Jack personally thanked those who helped out. Slowly but surely, the site got huge, hitting millions of visitors a month by 2009.
One reason it blew up? The sheer number of topics. WikiHow doesn’t just do normal stuff - they get super niche and weird. Someone, somewhere, probably really needs to know how to handle a scared camel.
Over time, WikiHow started having experts double-check the tricky stuff, like medical tips. Quality control, baby!
Now, about those pictures. They used to just grab random photos online, but those were boring. So they got photographers and artists to craft special images just for the tutorials.
Drawings help a lot too! Sometimes you just can't snap a photo of "How to talk to your partner about awkward stuff."
